Virtue Of Qur`aan

In the Name of Allah The most Gracious The Most Merciful

Reward For Reading Qur`aan:

‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allaah will earn one good (hasanah) thereby. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.’” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2910; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2327)

Narrated Aisha: The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.” (Sahih al-bukhari, Prophetic Commentary on the Quran)

“The one who offers these prescribed prayers regularly will not be recorded as one of the heedless, and whoever recites one hundred verses at night will not be recorded as one of the heedless.”  (Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah (2/180), Al-Albaani said in al-Saheehah (643): Its isnaad is saheeh according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, al-Bukhaari and Muslim)

From ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (رضي الله عنه), who said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever prays qiyaam reciting ten verses will not be recorded as one of the heedless. Whoever prays qiyaam reciting one hundred verses will be recorded as one of the devout. Whoever prays qiyaam reciting one thousand verses will be recorded as one of those who collected a great deal of reward.” [Abu Dawood (1398), Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood (1264)]

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever recites ten verses at night will not be recorded as one of the heedless.” [Narrated by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak (1/742), and he said: This hadeeth is saheeh according to the conditions of Muslim although they (al-Bukhaari and Muslim) did not narrate it. It was also narrated by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb (2/81)]

Reward For Memorizing Qur`aan:

Narrated Aisha: The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.” (Sahih al-bukhari, Prophetic Commentary on the Quran)

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Fasting and the Qur’aan will intercede for a person on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say, ‘O Lord, I deprived him of food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him.’ The Qur’aan will say, ‘O Lord I deprived him of his sleep at night, so let me intercede for him.’ Then they will both intercede for him.” (Narrated by Ahmad, al-Tabaraani and al-Haakim; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3882)
